I did this painting as part of the the #LIQUIDPAINTCHALLENGE going around on social media. Water and glass, both are my nemesis - they look very simple but of course appearances are deceptive as it is very difficult to capture the transparency given all the colors and reflections both mediums tend to attract!

The most complicated parts of the painting were the rusted tin lid, the glass and the water of course - It was only when i stopped overthinking the subject and took on the challenge of painting it in terms of lines, shapes and colors that I finally was able to generate the desired effect.

This painting is done in oil on stretched canvas and has been given a satin varnish.
